Welcome back to the Downtown Spotlight. Winter is over and spring is in the air. Eureka stretches it’s arms and begins to wake up, not that we really ever sleep ! With the spring comes many changes in our wonderful downtown. So today I thought I would bring you up to date with those changes.
So let’s get started. This is always an exciting event. Right in the heart of town in Basin Park we have a new snack shop! That’s right…. Parkside Pretzel is just about to open. They will serve hot pretzels, ice cream and drinks. I am excited to have them open as I love hot pretzels so much. What a perfect location as they will fill a need for refreshment while you sit in the park. Their projected date is April 1. Right across the street the chocolate store has a new name, Ellen’s Patisserie . This is located at 5 Spring St. This is another great snack shop serving chocolate of course along with hot and cold drinks . This shop has been a favorite with our visitors for many years and will continue that tradition with Ellen. Just up the street the Soap Stop and Body Shop has opened at 15 Spring St. You will know when you have arrived by the wonderful aroma drifting out the front door. These are local made products using local farm products. Natural and so many diverse soaps, salts, deodorants and more . Down on Center St. there have been a few changes. The Crow’s Nest, located at 6 Center St. is really beautiful and so elegant. Floral motifs and a touch of shabby chic is offered here. I will be writing a blog on them in the next week. So stay tuned. Across the street Eureka & Co. has moved and expanded from their previous location on Main St. 3 Center St. is where you will find them. If you liked them before, you will love their new, larger store. Bathe which used to be located in Basin Park , has moved over to where The Quilt Shop used to be located 2 Center St. They have also expanded and will offer something special. You can now book a party and have a great time creating your own party fun making one of a kind scents. Perfect for bridal parties ! The store smells so good and they are ready to greet you and show you the new space.
T-Rex has expanded and moved to 34 Spring St. where Nelson’s Leather used to be. Jamie’s love of vintage toys has taken on a big life of its own. Now you can have more fun than ever re-living your childhood .
Let’s jump down to Main St to 8 Main where a new clothing and gift shop will open in April. Magpie is the name of it and from what I can see in the windows it will be a popular place . I can’t wait to check it out and write a blog on it as well. Heading up across from the courthouse another yummy place is about to open. The Magic Pan Crepes will offer crepes with all kinds of sinful fillings and toppings. Look for them right beside the Tummy Tickler store. You will find them in a small stand right out front . On the north side of Main St. Jill’s Creekside Pie shop is expanding with indoor seating . You will still be able to sit on the deck, but on those not so lovely days you can enjoy her pies in the dry. I ate a chicken pot pie for lunch and that was the best pot pie I have ever eaten !! Do go by and have lunch or desert there.
Three more business have or are expanding. The Birdcage, located at Basin Spring Ave., has doubled the gallery space and now offers art from over 3o local artists. So many varieties of art there from paintings, woodwork, handmade journals , pottery and jewelery.
Body Tunes has moved from Center St. to 41 Spring St. They have kept the business down on Main St. but have a much larger space now and said to invite you to come and experience their product.
Last but not least, Brews is expanding as well. Bill says they are enlarging the seating capacity and adding a stage for those wonderful bands that fill the place with their awesome tunes. Listen to the music and enjoy a delightful Kraft beer while you are in town. And watch for the many art shows that you will find there. A very happening place in our small town. They are located at the bottom of Pine St. across from the post office.
Well now that you are all caught up on who is new , who has moved and who has expanded come on out and enjoy our fine town and all it has to offer. Be watching here as well as I will be doing blogs on the new businesses in town soon. Shop Small ya’ll and have a great time in Eureka Springs!
